かるぷ is spelled in (Japanese) Hiragana. カルプ is "karupu" spelled in (Japanese) Katakana. Hiragana and Katakana are essentially 2 different ways to write the same set of sounds in Japanese, with distinct visual styles. Hiragana is primarily used for native Japanese words and grammatical elements, while Katakana is used for foreign words, names, and emphasis.
So, I should be spelling "karupu" in Katakana like so: カルプ , but I want to practice Hiragana, so I spelled with Hiragana characters.
