Let's check to make sure the queen is not laying in the honey supers.
Last week hives 4 and 5 were ready for honey supers. Today we are checking to make sure the queens did not climb up and lay eggs in the honey supers. We keep the bottom supers for brood—for the queen to lay eggs—and the top supers for honey, which we want to keep brood-free.
