310 Miles in One Day on a Honda Navi // Houston to Austin, TX

Kevin ( @ExcelsiorDDZ on YT, or @Bikes.And.Pizza on IG ) is riding back to Round Rock, TX today, so I decided to join him! This is a long video, so skip around with the chapter markers below.

My original plan for the morning was to see Kevin out to the edge of town and then return home to clean up from my live stream and edit some videos. However, the Navi was running well, and I wanted to test it for a long-distance ride. So, I continued rolling up to the Austin area!

My round-trip distance was 310 miles over 8.5 riding hours at WOT (wide-open throttle). My average speed was 48-50 MPH while traveling with 15-20 MPH tailwinds on the way to Austin and then 44-48 MPH while battling headwinds on the return trip.

The Navi burned 4.75 gallons of fuel at a total cost of $17.75. During this torture test, the average fuel economy was 64.14 MPG, with a low of 58.11 and a high of 69.13 MPG. This was a worst-case scenario with brutal headwinds and WOT conditions, so I expect the Navi to perform better under more reasonable circumstances.

This test gives me some good data for upcoming carburetor tuning and other potential modifications for long-distance touring. I'll adjust the carburetor to factory specs first, and then I'll begin tuning with different intake, exhaust, and jet sizes. A larger fuel tank or a racing fuel cell will be necessary if I intend to use this scooter for the 2023 Scooter Cannonball Run. We'll have to wait to see how loudly those crazy voices start screaming in the back of my brain... Navi, Navi, Navi! 🤣👍
