The rules:
No consciously predetermined melody or chord structure.
No deciding on a key beforehand that I wish to play in. My hand should just fall on a note or notes and I start from there.
No tempo is decided. This can change in the middle of a recording.
No time signature is decided either, this can also change during performance.
When I first start playing, that's it, I must continue until I feel the piece has come to some kind of a conclusion. I cannot 'restart' and correct any mistakes or change something and then re-record.
I'm playing Autograph Grand, a free sampled piano vst plugin advertised as 'based on recordings of a Yamaha C6 grand piano that's housed in Malibu's Woodshed recording studios.'
I'm using Ableton live with a few effects such as a velocity plugin, reverbs, EQ, and a limiter.
This music has not been tampered with post recording. Notes and timing have been left 'as is'. (ie: midi notes, quantization and bpm)
