The Power–Angle Curve (also called the P–δ curve) is a fundamental concept in power systems that explains the relationship between the electrical power delivered by a synchronous generator and the load angle (or torque angle) δ.
It shows how the real power output of a generator varies sinusoidally with the angle between the internal generated emf and the infinite bus voltage. The curve reaches its maximum at 90°, which defines the steady-state stability limit of the machine. Beyond this point, power decreases and can even reverse direction, leading to loss of synchronism.
