Coastal Views & Village Streets | Gozo eBike Loop on Independence Day

A relaxed 26km eBike tour of Gozo filmed on Independence Day—perfect weather, calm seas, and a route that stitches together coast, countryside and classic village squares while I ease back into riding.

We roll out of Xagħra, descend Ta’ San Marzjan, and slip through the leafy Ulysses Lodge garden before entering Xewkija to circle the mighty Rotunda of St John the Baptist (Gozo’s largest church, famed for its unsupported dome). Then it’s onto my comfort terrain: a gentle, scenic roll along the Sanap Cliffs—rocky and rough in places but mostly a gradual decline with those deep-blue Mediterranean views.

From there we coast into Xlendi Bay, climb Għajn Tuta to the quiet hamlet of Santa Luċija, and track across lanes to Pjazza San Lawrenz and the legendary San Dimitri Chapel. We pass through Għarb’s beautiful Pjazza taż-Żjara tal-Madonna, dip under a giant Maltese flag for Independence Day, and glance at the Gozo Aqueduct before a quick stop in Pjazza Indipendenza (It-Tokk). The ride finishes with the steep Telgħa tas-Sellum back to Xagħra—legs burning, skyline of Victoria and the Ċittadella glowing.
