House Speaker Mike Johnson was making history in the British capital Tuesday, marking 250 years since American independence from the United Kingdom by becoming the first in that role to address the nation’s parliament.
The president has shocked and alarmed his NATO allies, refusing to rule out military action and vowing to impose tariffs in his attempts to seize the Arctic island.
Johnson, R-LA, began his address by saying that he spoke with Trump on Monday, and told him "that I felt that my mission here today was to encourage our friends, and help to calm the waters."
