Airgun Hunting:How to Hunt Squirrels with an Air Rifle

Airgun Hunting: In this video I continue the series on how to hunt with an air rifle, and this time we’re out hunting for squirrels. Arguably the most popular small game animal in North America, these small game quarry are found across the country, populations are usually high, they are a challenging hunt, seasons are long and bag limits high, and they are great table fare!
Coming from the Southwest tree squirrel were not readily available, ground squirrels were, but this is a completely different type of hunting. When I moved to the Midwest and started going after squirrels, I was only marginally successful at first, it took me a while to improve my results in the field. Hunting with some great squirrel hunters helped me hone my skills on this species, but many lessons were learned over many hours in the field.
In this video I share some of those lessons learned, and if you are looking for a great way to get started with airgun hunting, this might be a good starting place for you. I’ll talk about the game, the guns and gear, and tactics I use……. A disclaimer here, I am not presenting this as the only approach, it represents the way I hunt this great small game animal with a focus on still hunting and ambush techniques. Maybe in a follow up I’ll talk more about calling and using dogs.
