Makoko slum in Lagos ,Nigeria is facing demolition as homes are torn down and families displaced.
This documentary explores the real situation in Makoko presently, also known as the Venice of Africa.
In this documentary style vlog, I take you inside Makoko slum, a waterfront community often called Venice of Africa, where homes are being demolished and families displaced.
Makoko was founded in the 19th century by the Egun people and is known for its houses built on water, bamboo structures, fishing lifestyle ,and schools that once operated on the lagoon. For many years, this community was full of life ,children went to school on water, families lived peacefully, and people from around the world visited Makoko as a tourist attraction.
However ,recent government demolition is due to safety concerns ,as many homes were built too close to high voltage power lines. Although residents were asked to move back from the danger zone, many families are now left without homes ,schools ,or a clear future.
In this video, you will see:
.What Makoko looked like before and after demolition.
.The impact on families and children.
.Why the government says the demolition is necessary.
.The human side of a community struggling to survive.
.Daily life in Makoko during this difficult time.
This video is not just about buildings being destroyed, it is about people, history, and survival.
