Non sa se per paura o altro. Ma in ogni momento difficile o felice, Emma è con lei. Non sa che lo sceriffo sente una strana necessità di preoccuparsi di lei, di prendersi cura di lei, di esserle accanto e di voler essere sua amica. Di continuare a provare con lei ad alimentare e far crescere quel rapporto che con tanta fatica avevano costruito. Insieme. Ma Emma a volte, quando è sola nella sua stanza o nei turni di notte passando sotto casa del sindaco, si è chiesta se quel sentimento di amicizia, forse, non stava diventando qualcosa di più profondo.
