The silent work of master-hands at rest.
There, azure shadows linger, light and slow,
The ice is clear as ancient, silent tears.
And time has stilled, as in a waking dream,
A kingdom forged of ice, in awe and solemn years.
The liner, a small ant upon the sea,
Slices through the gray and boundless plain.
A gentle crack, like coughing from the deep,
As icebergs drift and break apart again.
He is a giant, reckless and astray,
He knows no woes, no wishes, and no cares,
And only his sharp peak is seen today,
While in the depths, a hidden world he bears.
Here, penguins bustle, like small, busy children,
Upon the frosted, endless, icy ground.
Nature is on display, with wonders wild and free,
And everything unfolds without a sound.
This land, so mighty, wild, and purely white,
Fills up the soul, the eyes, the heart with grace.
And you stand still, a guest of fading light,
Within the frozen temple of this place.
