ABOUT THE PIECE:

"산 • San • Mountain" is a solo for five-octave marimba + electronic playback commissioned by Ji Hye Jung. Combining contemporary percussion aesthetics with pop, electronic, and dance music, the electronic playback creates an environment for the marimba to explore while also adding new colors to the marimba's sonic palette. Thematically, "Mountain" is inspired by the sense of wonder and the connection to nature that one experiences when out in the mountains.
