To commemorate the unfortunate news GT7 will be released on the PS4, I figured I'd pay tribute to what is likely to be the last true Gran Turismo game in the series, being the sixth installment.
The GT7 trailer combined with this new nugget of info regarding the PS4 release, leads me to believe GT7 will be nothing more than GT Sport 2.0. Same tire model, same physics. And that's a shame if true. Seeing how most every road car (barring a handful such as the '16 Porsche 911 GT3) carry the same lateral G-Force in GT Sport, this is disappointing to say the least.
In every installment of GT, every car carried differing levels of lateral grip, just as in real life. Yet, in GT Sport this is not the case.
For example, an NSX-R (a car with a remarkably low center of gravity height of under 17.5 inches) carries the same speed on the Streets of Willow Skidpad as a '65 Mustang GT350 on it's narrow tires, a tall and heavy Ford F-150 pickup truck, a Ford GT supercar, a Mitsubishi GTO, etc.
This transfers over to circuits as well. Take an old muscle car and match it's power-to-weight ratio to an NSX-R, RX7, etc so they run the same on the straights of a short track like Tsukuba. Set a lap time in each car and upload your ghosts. They will run on top of one another. Unlike GT6, where the NSX-R would run multiple seconds quicker.
If GT7 carries over this little physics "qwerk" from GT Sport, I will not be buying.
