ATA Hard Disk interfaced to AVR32 UC3A microcontroller using EBI static memory controller through 2x74LS245 octal bus driver IC, additional address decoding via 16V8 GAL. ATA registers is accessible over memory mapped I/O at 0xD0000000 (SMC -CS3 signal). The application detects ATAPI devices (eg. CD-ROM drives) too, and control of these devices over PACKET commands are okay.
Due to the current wiring schema, the signal integrity is very poor, attaching of two ATA devices won't work together.
My proto app is an extend of EVK1100 Control Panel demo application. It plays MP3 files over STA013 decoder chip from any storage device (USB stick, memory card, Hard Disk) or from MP3 stream over the internet from any radio station. ID3 tag and stream meta is also supported. System clock is synchronized using an NTP server.
