Chapter 77 – BANGKOK TO KOH SAMUI
We are leaving Bangkok after a few days of tourism and are heading to the island of Koh Samui. We booked a late-afternoon flight with Bangkok Airways. We boarded the A319 and settled in, watched the safety demo, and then we were off on our just over 1-hour flight. Although it was a short flight, we were served an in-flight meal of chicken with noodles. When we landed at the Koh Samui airport, we were shocked to see the taxi prices. 800 Bhat (about $25 US) for the ride to our hotel, about halfway down the island. We checked in at the Am Samui Palace, a comfortable 4-star hotel, and then we decided to take a quick walk along the nearby main street to see what was available. We found the usual mixture of Cannabis stores and massage parlours.
