Professor Emeritus at The University of Toronto, he believes that within 20 years, artificial super intelligence will advance to be smarter than humans. Geoffrey Hinton says this raises the biggest question and risk: will super intelligence want to take over? He says the only solution he sees is to prevent it from wanting to take over by giving it something akin to a maternal instinct towards humans, where AI cares more about humans than it cares about itself. Geoffrey Hinton says super intelligence will lead to huge advances in science and medicine and the benefits will be significant and widespread. He also says while he doesn't regret his contribution to AI's development, he wishes he had thought about safety earlier in the process, particularly when it comes to the question of how to prevent AI from wanting to take control of humans. #abcbusiness
