In recent decades, ICCP systems have become increasingly important in the naval industry, not only for their excellent performance in seawater, but also for their benefits such as reduced friction in navigation with its consequent fuel savings ( 1 to 3%), the increase in speed in free navigation, the savings in the replacement of sacrificial anodes at each stop at the dock, the decrease in the probability of snagging of nets in fishing vessels. The purpose of this presentation is to show, through real cases, the fundamental principles of the operation of ICCP systems applied to the naval industry. Examples of the impact of temperature and turbulence on the protection current will be shown. Also real cases of installations and assemblies of ICCP systems on different types of vessels.
