52. Chambering in the steady rest

Sometimes, it's necessary or advantageous to chamber a barrel in the steady rest. If the barrel won't fit through the headstock, you would chamber in the steady rest. Occasionally, it is the method of choice just because it is expedient. Other times, it may produce a better result. Now, in this particular case, I am being a lot more fussy than one might normally be, I'm double-checking concentricity and alignment at various stages to be certain there is no compromise in the quality of the work. I'm using this as a demo, but it still has to come out right. Happily, it seems like it is working out just fine.
The only thing that I really did differently was to be certain the centers were indeed concentric, rather than taking it on faith. WH
