Waterproofing the Pajares Railroad Tunnels | ACCIONA

ACCIONA Infrastructure has designed, manufactured and installed an innovative waterproofing solution for the Pajares Railroad Runnels in Asturias, Spain. After a number of solutions were tried and abandoned, ACCIONA Infrastructure found the appropriate prescription: a fiberglass-reinforced polymer resin in the form of composite plates to channel water. The plates are manufactured using a poltrusion process and installed in 1.5-meter strips. These advancements respect the gauge of the tunnel and allow visual inspection of the segments.
