Ice Bubbles
Down where the drowned leaves settle, soft and slow,
silt turns secrets into undertow.
Tiny workers in the dark unwind
what we buried in the back of mind.
A breath becomes a bead of light,
a silver rise through heavy night.
Up, up—like hope you can’t refuse,
but winter writes its own excuse.
Exhale—white lines in the air,
cold don’t care if it’s fair.
So beautiful it hurts to see,
a clear, cruel kind of honesty.
Ice bubbles, bottled breaths in glass,
pearls of “almost,” meant to pass.
We sleep the same—still, sealed, serene,
trapped between what was and what might’ve been.
Layer on layer, lace and chain,
pancake halos of patient pain.
Ice bubbles—if we ever break,
will we rise… or just awake?
The surface freezes, thin at first,
a fragile mirror, a quiet curse.
Each new breath climbs and collides,
stacking like prayers that never land.
Snow can hush it, hide the proof,
silence turns the lake to truth.
But wind can scrape the white away—
and suddenly, we’re on display.
Hear the ice groan—low, long, deep,
like a heartbeat learning how to sleep.
Not the strong survive the storm,
but the ones who know what thaw can cost.
And when the mild light starts to lean,
when edges blur from sharp to clean,
the bubbles loosen, one by one—
no drumroll, no parade, just gone.
Is that release, or erased?
A perfect vanish, neatly traced.
Tell me—when our lock comes loose,
do we become air… or just the bruise?
Ice bubbles, brittle breaths in bloom,
held in a crystal, cold cocoon.
We were the same—still, sealed, serene,
a clear little cage called “in-between.”
If breaking is the price of sky,
let it hurt—at least it’s alive.
Ice bubbles—when we finally break,
we won’t fade… we’ll leave a wake.
