Last month the Utrecht Union had the honour of interviewing 23-year-old author and student Lale Gül. 🖋📚
At the start of this year, Lale published her autobiographical debut novel called 'Ik ga leven'. Her best-selling novel caused great turmoil in the Dutch Muslim community, which resulted in extensive critique and even death threats because of her critical stance towards her strict Islamic upbringing.
We spoke with her about stepping out of her own bubble, the difficulties she encountered in doing so but also about the freedom she received in return.
