Maya Jeffereis, an artist, filmmaker, and educator based in Brooklyn, delves into the counter-narratives of diasporic Asians by drawing upon her family's history. In this video, Maya discusses her research process with THAT Director of Curatorial Strategy, Claire Kim. Maya shared the process of researching her maternal family history as Japanese laborers at a sugar plantation in Hawaii and how this investigation connects to global struggles and resistance movements across the Pacific and the Caribbean.
