So apparently the new rule is: if you show up to a baby shower with a baby, you’re committing a social crime. And if you happen to be engaged, you need to keep that ring in witness protection. Because how dare you exist with life updates in the same zip code as someone else’s event.

In today’s story, a woman drives four hours to her cousin Piper’s baby shower with her sister, niece, and her two month old son after being told kids were welcome. The shower goes smoothly, Piper is smiling, holding the baby, asking questions, taking photos, and her sister even asks about the engagement ring. Then as OP is leaving, a group of Piper’s friends and the MIL corner her outside and accuse her of stealing attention by bringing a baby to a baby shower and “showing off” her ring. Now she’s spiraling, crying, and wondering if she accidentally ruined the day, while her family is split on whether she’s the problem or if those people just wanted drama.

So what do you think. Is bringing a baby to a baby shower actually disrespectful, or is that the most ridiculous comparison of all time? And if the bride or mom-to-be never complained, do the friends and MIL get to invent an offense anyway?
