Trois Morceaux
I. d'Un Vieux Jardin
II. d'Un Jardin Clair
III. Cortege
Hailed by EarRelevant as a musician "whose performance confidence seems second-nature, just a breezy afterthought born of keen training and extreme talent," Choo Choo Hu has performed all across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist. She is a founding member of ensemble vim, a non-profit new music collective dedicated to bringing multidisciplinary performances of underrepresented living composers to underserved communities. Choo Choo's recent concerto engagements include appearances with the Atlanta Symphony, the Spokane Symphony, and the Atlanta Philharmonic.
Born in China and raised in St. Louis, Choo Choo began taking lessons at the age of five. She made her concerto debut at age twelve with the Washington University Symphony Orchestra. By age sixteen she had already accumulated top prizes at competitions throughout the United States.
Choo Choo is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore where she studied with Leon Fleisher and Brian Ganz. She is a recipient of the Albert and Rosa Silverman Memorial Scholarship, the Yale Gordon Chamber Music Fellowship, and the Grace Clagett Ranney Prize in Chamber Music. She frequently collaborates with the Atlanta Symphony and the Atlanta Opera as a collaborative pianist/repetiteur. She has also performed with the Baltimore Symphony, the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, the Johns Creek Symphony, the York Symphony, and Prince George's Philharmonic.
