Jon's first encounter with the Others and their dead minions is at the end of AGOT, and it foreshadows his future encounters with the Others as well as his resurrection. Jon and the Watch find the corpses of Jafer Flowers and Othor at the Grove of Nine and bring them back to Castle Black, only to have them rise again.. This is also where Jon learns of the supposed "treason" by Ned in Kings Landing and then tries to kill Ser Alliser Thorne at the dinner table. I'll be joined by @herowithathousandvoices !
