This vertical cockpit view puts you right in the pilot’s seat for a major milestone in our training journey — Part 7 of Navigraph Academy: The First Solo.

This is where instruction steps back and judgement steps forward. The task is simple, but demanding: fly the traffic pattern solo, repeatedly and accurately, meeting real-world standards without guidance. Every decision — spacing, speed, configuration, and timing — is yours.

Later in the stream, we’ll switch gears and preview tonight’s VATSIM Thursday flight, flying the 737-800 from San Francisco (KSFO) down to Los Angeles (KLAX), applying the same disciplined thinking at airline scale.

What to Expect
Full cockpit POV — vertical view from lineup to shutdown.
Part 7 of Navigraph Academy: first solo flight.
At least three full traffic patterns flown solo.
Clear visual references for altitude, spacing, and runway alignment.
Repetition and refinement — flying to standard, not to luck.

Later: VATSIM flight briefing — KSFO → KLAX in the 737-800.

Solo Check Ride — Pass Criteria
To pass the solo check ride, we’ll demonstrate:
Maintaining correct altitude throughout the pattern.
Staying within standard traffic pattern boundaries.
Proper configuration on downwind, base, and final.
Flying the correct airspeeds on each leg.
Crossing the threshold at 61 knots and the correct height.
Touching down within the touchdown zone, without tailstrike or excessive G-forces.

The vertical format keeps instruments, runway picture, and sight cues perfectly aligned — ideal for learning and repetition.

Why This Works in Vertical
Pattern flying is visual.
Solo flying is about awareness.
