In 1929 , while on a tour of India , revered Mahatma Gandhi came here for a two-day break at the guest house of a tea estate owner to unwind. However, upon his arrival, he was so captivated by the golden rays of the sun falling on the snow-capped mountain ranges beyond Kausani that he forgot his two-day stay and stayed here for fourteen consecutive days. During his stay, he completed the initial stages of writing his famous book, "Anasakti Yoga," based on the Gita .
