#ITK Engineering has developed the #IVESS (Individual Virtual Environment & Sensor Simulation) framework to create a customizable, high-fidelity environment and sensor simulation for testing driving functions in a virtual world.
This #simulation uses custom rendering engines from the gaming industry to provide synthetic, low - level and object-level sensor data with whitebox interfaces for a toolchain-independent integration. Various sensor types, such as radar, lidar, ultrasound and camera, are simulated and can be customized to mimic real-life sensors.
Segmentation ground truth data of all the sensor types – taken from the #virtualenvironment – can be provided to help develop traditional and AI algorithms.
In addition to the sensor simulations, ITK provides a scenario generator that allows automatic construction of varying virtual road and city environments. To ensure realistic car movements in virtual scenes, ITK supports the integration of vehicle dynamic models packaged as an FMU or external linkage to a vehicle dynamic simulation.
