The Class 387 is one of the loudest in the Electrostar family from standstill to full line speed. Similarly to other modern electric trains, this train is driven asynchronously up to around 30mph where the traction converter switches to synchronous modulation onwards. This recording has been filtered for background chatter from passengers.
Recorded on 12/14/2024 between Kings Cross and Cambridge, onboard 387305 with a Tascam X6 32-bit in A-B configuration + contact microphone in a 1-2 configuration mixdown.
