Teaching Tolerance I Talking to your child about Race

Book selection clarification: First, read books that reflect your child, as mentioned in the video. Also, read books that reflect other cultures, as I mention in the video. BUT ALSO, don't forget to read books that have lead characters of different ethnic backgrounds. This way, your child becomes accustomed to seeing ALL children in books and literature. For example, Asian American children born in America, don't identify with many Asian cultures. We are American. So, it's important to read books that depict that fact accurately. I hope that makes sense :)
