In todays video we diagnose and replace the Ignition Lock Housing on a 2011 ford escape. This is a common issue on many ford, Lincoln, Mercury vehicles in that range. Over time the lock housing wears out and no longer transfers the turning motion from the lock cylinder into the ignition switch. When this happens it causes the starter to not be told to engage and thus leaving the car a no crank no start. Often times this happens slowly with each start becoming harder and harder to get to engage.
To diagnose this issue we found that we could only get the vehicle to start when pressing the ignition hard into the cylinder and turning as far as we could and holding. Usually this would allow it to start. However, that just means its going to keep getting worse. After replacement we have no issues starting it.
The job is very simple and some steps are below as well as tools and parts.
