Step into the heart of Kraków’s historic Kazimierz district with a visit to the Old Jewish Cemetery and the adjacent Remuh Synagogue. Established in 1535, the cemetery is one of Europe’s oldest surviving Jewish burial grounds, its weathered matzevot (tombstones) bearing witness to centuries of communal life, scholarship, and tragedy. Just beside it, the Remuh Synagogue — founded in 1553 by the renowned Talmudist Rabbi Moses Isserles — continues to serve worshippers while hosting a small museum that preserves sacred artifacts and rare Judaica.
