Lifting Our 78’ Yacht Let the Cummins Repower Begin!

In this video, we take our 78' aluminum yacht Tangaroa across the Salish Sea to Vancouver for haul-out—and it’s the last time we’ll be running her with the original Detroit Diesel 12V71 engines.

These legendary engines, known for their power and unmistakable sound, have carried this boat through thousands of miles. But with our upcoming repower project, it’s time to say goodbye.

We cruise through Steveston, soak in the final ride with the Detroits, and get ready to roll up our sleeves for months of engine work. This is a major step in our boat repower journey, and it marks the true beginning of the transformation from old-school mechanical diesels to modern electronic Cummins 6.7 marine engines.
