Inductive couplers are used in applications where connectors experience high stress, such as frequent couplings and de-couplings. Typical applications include workpiece carriers, turn tables, and tool changers.
During development, we recognized that it was important to have a high amount of power and versatility. Turck’s inductive coupling technology is capable of passing 12 watts and 500 milliamps over an air gap up to 7 mm, with a 5mm face to face offset, and an angular offset of up to 15°, providing superior flexibility for mounting in any application.
An inductive coupling system helps to reduce costs. Connectors that are stressed due to mating and de-mating wear down quickly and require replacement, which can lead to expensive and inefficient downtimes.
While other systems do exist, Turck’s inductive coupling technology provides several key benefits.
First, the fast startup time. The two units have rapid detecting rates, allowing them to be ready in 10 milliseconds.
Second, we offer a very simple inductive coupling package, utilizing 2 standard PNP contacts with exactly the same platform. The large air gap of 7mm, the angular offset of 15 degrees, and a 5mm face to face offset offer significant advantages over the competition.
Finally, we have the ability to use IO-Link technology, allowing users to power up to 16 sensors via IO-Link.
