Tha‘labah once lived in poverty and sincerely prayed to Allah for riches. When Allah granted him abundance, his heart slowly changed. His love for wealth distracted him from worship, and eventually he failed to fulfill the obligation of Zakah, despite clear reminders from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
This incident teaches us that wealth is not a blessing by default—it is a test. True success lies not in how much we own, but in how faithfully we obey Allah and remain humble in ease and hardship.
