Today we're going to be taking a look at the best trailer hitch options for your 2015 Ford Mustang. The main difference between these two, or the biggest difference I should say, is our kit is only going to work with the fastback model, where our Draw-Tite will work with the fastback or the convertible model.Couple other minor differences that we can see right off the bat. One is going to be how they install. Our CURT is going to have two mounting locations on the outside of each frame rail and two on the bottom, where our Draw-Tite is going to have one on the outside of each frame rail and two on the bottom. Our safety chain loops, our Draw-Tite is going to have rolled steel. This gives you a little bit more room if you have different size hooks.
With our CURT, we're going to have plate style and our holes are just a little bit smaller.Another difference. If you notice here at the end of our receiver tubes, our CURT receiver tube has a reinforced collar. It's going to give a little extra stability, where our Draw-Tite doesn't have that. That's going to be more a matter of personal preference. Our CURT is going to have a round tube design where our Draw-Tite is square tube.
You can see here on the vehicle, this is what the Draw-Tite is going to look like installed. You can see the crosstube is visible here. With the CURT having the round tube, it might give it a little bit more of an aerodynamic look and fit a little bit better with the vehicle. CURT is going to require the use of a stabilization strap for any non-wheeled loads like your bike racks and cargo carriers, where your Draw-Tite's not going to require that. Both are going to have 1-1/4" by 1-1/4" receiver tube openings with black powder coat finish that's going to help resist any rust or corrosion.Hitch pin and clips do not come with either one of these hitches, but they can be found here at etrailer.com.
Both are going to have a black powder coat finish to help resist any rust or corrosion. Our CURT is going to have more of a gloss finish, where our Draw-Tite's going to have a semi-gloss. Again, that's going to be a matter of personal preference. As far as weight capacities go, we're going to have a 200 pound max tongue weight, which is the downward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube, 2,000 pound gross trailer weight, which is the trailer plus the load included. I always recommend checking the owner's manual of your Ford to make sure the vehicle can withstand that amount of weight. You're going to pick the lowest number between the vehicle and the vehicle. In summary, if you have a convertible Mustang, the Draw-Tite is going to be the way to go.
If you have the fastback Mustang, it's going to be a matter of personal opinion, Draw-Tite or the CURT, because you have either option. My personal opinion, if I had a fastback, I would go with the CURT because of the aesthetics alone. It's going to have the reinforced collar, which I like that look, and the round tube design I think is going to look better with the contour of the vehicle. That'll do it for a look at the best hitch options for your Ford Mustang.
