Feeding a family can be a lot of work. And it's even trickier when you are caring for an aging parent or grandparent who has special dietary needs.
I cook almost every single meal at home. Why? It's cheaper, it's healthier, and because my partner's elderly mom needs soft and lower sodium food, it's just the best option.
But making home cooked meals can be a lot of work. Luckily there are ways to make things easier.
I like to meal prep every week. But not the meal prep where you repeat the same meal over and over again. Instead I ingredient prep aka prep like a restaurant.
I prepare proteins, this week I make air fryer chicken and chicken salad. Veggies. Sauces and spreads. And sometimes starches and grains.
So in this video, I will walk you through a typical weekly meal prep for a family of four with a senior loved one.
I slide in my recipes so you can pause the video and screen shot them to make your life easier. These recipes aren't perfected necessarily, they are just what I am cooking that week, so adjust as needed.
And your elder loved one may require different levels of sodium (for Lola we shoot for around 1,500 mg of sodium a day) and softer food, so please adjust as needed.
