At the Rotunda Hospital, we’re conducting new research to better understand the experiences of first-time mums.
This study will follow over 1,000 first-time mums. Our goal is to gain valuable insights into pregnancy and birth to provide future parents with clear, evidence-based guidance. We aim to answer important questions, including:
• When do most women go into labour naturally?
• If considering induction of labour, when is the best time during pregnancy?
• Are there factors that could lower the risk of an instrumental delivery or a C-section?
By participating, your pregnancy journey will help us find answers to these crucial questions.
We also want to hear directly from women about their labour and delivery experiences. Your story will help improve care for future first-time mums.
What is involved?
This is an observational study, meaning we won’t suggest any changes to your care. Instead, we will:
• Collect information from your medical chart and your baby’s medical chart.
• Ask you to complete up to three short (five-minute) interviews about your experience.
• Ensure your personal details will be removed from the data
While this study may not directly benefit your current pregnancy, your participation will help improve care for future mums.
By joining, you’ll be contributing to real, research-backed knowledge—empowering women to make confident, informed decisions about their pregnancy and birth.
If this is your first pregnancy, ask your doctor or midwife if you might be eligible for the BORN in the Rotunda study.
