Nestled in the mountains of Logar and Kabul provinces lies one of the world’s most significant undeveloped copper deposits — Mes Aynak. Covering an area of approximately 13,470 hectares.
The Aynak Copper Mine is envisioned as a large-scale underground operation, designed to include extraction, processing, and smelting facilities — with a total estimated investment of xxx billion USD.
It holds the promise of economic growth, energy transition, and job creation for thousands of Afghans — while also posing environmental and social challenges that require careful, science-based management.
To ensure responsible and sustainable development, @DairaSabz Consulting and Engineering Group, an ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified firm, has led a comprehensive Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA).
The assessment covered technical baseline studies including flora, fauna, air quality, soil, noise, visual impact, archaeology, water resources, geochemistry, tailings, socio-economics, resource economics, transportation, and climate change profiling.
Through collaboration with national authorities, local communities, and international experts, this ESIA aims to balance resource extraction with environmental protection, cultural preservation, and community well-being — setting a model for green and responsible mining in Afghanistan.
Mes Aynak is not just about copper.
It is about the country’s journey toward sustainability, transparency, and inclusive growth — where every ton of ore extracted also contributes to the value of people, heritage, and nature.
