TOUR TECH HOW TO TUNE A SURDO DRUM ON DEAD AND CO 2023

Howdy All,
So while out on tour with Dead & Co on "The Final Tour" 2023 I noticed an "errant ash" from "something" had burned a tiny hole in the head of the smallest surdo on the The Wall Of Drums. So I figured it was a great opportunity to use my

to create an "on the road" tuning video showing you how to install, balance, and tune a head on this 20" Remo Surdo. Because it's a "claw style" tension hoop, it's much like a bass drum where you have to suspend the hoop on the drum head while installing it. Hence every idiosyncrasy of the drum, and hoop will have an effect on how the drum tensions up. So in this vid I show you how to install a Remo drum head (including cracking the excess glue seal) , and some fundamentals of balancing a drum head on an 8 lug drum.
