Sapan (Sengupta) along with late Jagmohan (Bakshi) had teamed up to form Sapan-Jagmohan duo of music directors, who became very popular in 1960s and 1970s. Together, they composed music for 61 Hindi films, 20 Punjabi films, 7 Bengali films, 5 Bhojpuri films and several TV serials.
Sapan ji sang in chorus for Burman Dada, and became very close to him and his wife Meeraji. Here, he narrates about his association with Dada and narrates several anecdotes on the great man.
The other partner late Jagmohan (Bakshi) had sung a duet with Asha Bhosle, 'Dekho maane nahin roothi haseena na jaane kya baat hai' in Taxi Driver released in 1954.
Sapan ji has retired completely and spends sunset years of his life, peacefully, with wife Pronoti Sengupta, in Carter Road, Bandra (West), Mumbai 50.
