We will start the ride in between West End Blvd and Pontchartrain Blvd. in the median there was the location of the New Basin Canal back in the 1920's but was filled in by the 1950's before the Pontchartrain Expwy. was built in this area by the 1950's and 1960's . As we across the 17th Street we're entering Jefferson Parish in the Census Destination area of Metairie, Louisiana which have a population of 139,502 as of 2024 . If incorporated it would have been the fourth largest city in the State of Louisiana, as we proceed further in Metairie we're bypassing a lot of commercial developments along Veterans Blvd also known as Veterans Memorial Blvd. named to honoring Army , Air Force and Navy Veterans of America. Passing Causeway Blvd. a roadway goes into the heart of Metairie leading to the Causeway bridges that are 24 miles over Lake Pontchartrain with 7 Emergency Crossovers every 2 to 3.5 miles . plus Lakeside Shopping Center which opened in 1960 as an open air shopping center the mall became enclosed by the 1970's and a later food court was added on by 1990. plus have numerous expansions to it's present size. Anchored by JCPenney, Dillard's, and Macy's. over 130 stores including the out parcels and three parking garages that were added by 2010. One and half later we're approaching the Clearview City Centre which featured a Ochsner Medical Facility, Target 🎯, and 12 screen stadium seating AMC Theatre . Crossing Interstate 10 approaching Lafrienere Park the site of the former Jefferson Downs Race Track before moving to Kenner by the 1970's which later became Louisiana Downs ( now the Treasure Chest Casino) , Approaching Roosevelt Ave entering the City Of Kenner, Louisiana which have a population of 69,404 as of 2024 . Kenner is home of the both the Historical Rivertown area which have an array of shops, and a theatre , Kenner City Hall which currently being rebuilt and the Laketown area at Lake Pontchartrain which has the Treasure Chest Casino, Pontchartrain Center , and the Kenner City Park. all located along Williams Blvd. Passing Glazier Rd ( old Airport Access Road . ) taking to the Economy Parking garages near the Armstrong International Airport and arriving to Loyola Drive which will take you to the current location of the Armstrong International Airport terminal area going southbound and taking you through the University Area Neighborhood of North Kenner. Riding to the end of the road at Belleville Road adjacent to the Duncan Canal and St. Charles Parish is where the ride ends so sit back and enjoy this excursion .
