Icefields Parkway Hours Before Alberta Wildfire 🇨🇦 Summer 2024

First and foremost, I wish all the evacuees of Alberta and BC wildfires are safe, and for those who are still on the road, may find shelters as soon as possible! I pray for you, your family, your friends, your home and your business 🙏

Little did I know that I was travelling in Icefields Parkway and Jasper just a few hours before the Alberta wildfire that forced everyone in Jasper and Jasper National Park to evacuate!

At first, I thought the sky was smoky because of the BC wildfire, but as I got closer to Jasper, the sky became even more hazier. Perhaps Alberta wildfire has already started by then.

As for me, I finished dinner at Jasper around 7 pm, and saw the wildfire up close on the west of Highway 16 near Maligne Lake Road while driving to a hotel in Hinton. Later found out that the Highway 16 to Hinton access was closed shortly afterwards! Around 10 pm, emergency alert was issued asking everyone in Jasper and Jasper National Park to evacuate!

This is what I have captured on July 22nd in Icefields Parkway right before Alberta Wildfire was officially declared. I pray the situation gets better soon! May every evacuee be safe!

Note: Worsening news have been coming in since I scheduled to post this video. Last time I heard 30 to 50% of Jasper was damaged. Tears kept flowing as I watch the devastation that the wildfires left behind in this beloved iconic town. Words cannot express the losses that the residents of Jasper suffer. May the wildfires be put out as soon as possible!
