A rare Oriental Scops Owl in Singapore, captured in 4K 120p on the Nikon Z9. Extending a fleeting moment of stillness.
The Oriental Scops Owl is a migrant so rare in Singapore that birders often call it a "one-day bird"; here today, gone tomorrow.
Deep inside a lesser-used path at Sungei Buloh, I didn't find a bird that was performing. I found one that was just existing.
The Director’s Note:
To me, slow motion is an extension of the moment a photograph is taken. In a still photo, this owl is frozen. But shooting at 120 frames per second allows us to witness the subtle rise and fall of its breathing; the life behind the stillness.
This video is an uncropped, 4K observation of a migrant species taking a rare pause.
