港鐵南港島綫全程行車片段 MTR South Island Line

This is a video of myself riding the brand new MTR South Island Line (港鐵南港島線), between Admiralty (金鐘) and the South Horizons (海怡半島) private housing development located on Ap Lei Chau Island, on the opening date (28th December, 2016) as well! The new line passes through Ocean Park (海洋公園), Wong Chuk Hang (黃竹坑), Lei Tung (利東) stations along the way.

Having opened to the public after a 1 year delay, the South Island Line is the 1st of 2 lines meant to serve the Southern District of Hong Kong Island. It starts in the bottom level of an extended part of Admiralty Station and goes south through the Nam Shan Tunnel before emerging on a viaduct just east of the Ocean Park amusement park. The line stays above ground as it travels through Wong Chuk Hang and crosses a bridge to Ap Lei Chau, where it enters the hill and stops under Lei Tung estate before going through a U-shaped tunnel to terminate at South Horizons.

The western section of the South Island Line is currently under planning and meant to serve Cyberport (數碼港), Wah Fu (華富), Tin Wan (田灣) and Aberdeen (香港仔), but is not expected to be completed until the 2020s.
