In this video I go over how to restore an old Coleman 288A White Gas Dual Mantle Pressure lantern. I've had a recent fascination with these old Dual and single mantle pressure lamps. I've actually been using them for auxiliary heat in two small green houses we have and they do seem to help a lot. If I'm not mistaken, the single mantle lanterns produce around 2800 BTU per hour and the dual mantle about 3200 btu, So I've refurbished a few of them.
I'll probably do a few videos on these as well as Kerosene lanterns we've been playing around with to also do auxiliary heating. I really want to get my hands on an old Aida or Petromax lantern, those things are just stunning sitting on a shelf! I'll work on that in the future as well.
I'm toying around with the idea of distilling non-ethanol pump gas into white gas but am not 100% enamored with doing a video on that. If you've read this far, comment in the video on your thoughts on that topic.
Here's some of the links I Promised in the video.
Franks Old Town Coleman web site and You tube channel are a treasure trove of valuable information should you decide to work on any old Coleman lanterns or other devices.
