Learn the easy way to propagate your Philodendron Micans Aurea using perlite. This method is simple, reduces the risk of rot, and helps grow strong roots. (Linked at the bottom are some supplies you may need)
What You'll Need:
· Philodendron Micans Aurea plant
· Sharp, clean scissors
· Perlite
· A clear cup (poke holes in the bottom)
· A small bowl or second cup (for water)
· Potting mix (for later)
Steps:
1. Cut a stem just below a node (where the leaf and aerial root grow).
2. Fill your clear cup with damp perlite.
3. Place the cutting in the perlite, so the node is buried.
4. Sit the clear cup inside the outer bowl/cup. Add a little water to the outer container (not directly to the perlite).
5. Place in bright, indirect light.
6. Keep water in the outer container. Roots will grow in a few weeks.
7. Once roots are a few inches long, pot in soil.
Tips:
· Choose a stem with nice variegation for the best-looking new plant.
· No need to water the perlite directly—it will wick moisture from the bottom.
