Following a presentation from Jim Shelton on why 31st Street was raising money to support development of voter mobilization infrastructure in IOWA, the group heard from Aaron Lehman of the Iowa Farmers Union and Shawn Phetteplace and Richard Trent of the Main Street Alliance (active in various NE states). Both emphasized the build-up of anti-Trump sentiment in Iowa and the need for early money hire staff and lay the groundwork for the various campaigns coming up in 2026. 31st Street set a target of $200,000 for this campaign, $100,000 to each of the organizations. Funds would be channeled through the Iowa funding coalition: "Alliance for a Better Iowa".
