2017香港科學節講座：香港故事知多少？等石頭話你知

石頭看起來很沉靜沒趣，但它們的存在可以告訴我們地球的過去。我們能在香港找到超過四億年前誕生的石頭，它們可以“告訴”我們香港以前是什麼樣子。憑著石頭的成份、結構、分佈和所含的化石，展示了香港過往的地質環境變化、海水的升降和氣候變化。本講座主要介紹一些香港具代表性的岩石特質，並探討如何從石頭了解香港的地殼活動歷史。

HK SciFest 2017 Lectures: Let the Rocks Tell You More about Hong Kong History

Rocks look silent and boring but their existence can tell us what happened on the Earth at different periods in the past. In Hong Kong, there are rocks formed over 400 million years ago and they can “tell” us how Hong Kong looked like in the past. The composition, structure, distribution and fossil content of the rocks show the changes of the geological environment, sea level and climate in Hong Kong. This talk introduces some of the typical rocks in Hong Kong and explores how we can know more about Hong Kong’s tectonic history from those rocks.
