Thirty years ago today, a convoy of about 70 vehicles carrying mostly women, elders and children left Kahnawake.
They were seeking refuge from the approaching Canadian army and the looming end of the Siege of Kanehsatà:ke, also called the Oka Crisis.
But instead, they drove into an ambush. Hundreds of people threw rocks at them while they drove into Montreal.
